Reflections

I have never really thought about by well-being when it comes to physical, spiritual, and psychological, so this exercise really got me thinking. For my physical well-being I would rate it as an eight, my spiritual well-being would be a five, and my psychological well-being would be a five.

I exercise 5-6 days a week, so I feel my physical well-being is almost a ten but there is always room for improvement. I could change up my routine to try something new, try new healthy foods, and to make stretching just as important as exercise. A physical goal I have is to try to work in yoga into my routine. I have been wanting to try hot yoga and there is a place that is right by my house.

I gave my spiritual well-being a five because I need to spend more time in prayer, reading my bible, and getting more involved in my church. My spiritual goal is to trade in reading Facebook and looking a Pinterest each night for reading my bible and prayer time. I have just signed up to start helping out in the nursery at and to be on the MOPS comity at my church, so that will help get me more involved in my church.

I gave my psychological goal a five because I do feel stressed out a majority of the time. I also struggle with anxiety and being hard on myself. My number one goal is to work on cutting out some of the busyness in our life. The first thing I am doing is to not feel obligated to do something every weekend with my friends. I feel that if I can cut our some of the busyness in my life I will feel less stress, which will help with my anxiety and help with me being so hard on myself.

I liked the exercise because it did make me feel relaxed and grounded. I do feel that I would have to do this exercise a few times to get the most out of it. I had a hard time really seeing the colors and trying to connect the colors with each area. I feel since there are different commands given that this relaxation exercise is hard to do for someone who is new at it. I would suggest that it be done several times to get the most out of it.

  2. Hi Tamara,
It sounds like you are off to a great start in increasing your wellness. I always think that the hardest part is taking the first step, but once you get going the steps get easier and easier.

  3. Hey Tamara,
I have a few similar goals as you do! To cut out reading facebook and looking at interest pins, and just try to cut out the busyness in my life as well. I would like to substitute my spirituality for something more nature based as opposed to reading the bible, allthough I am open to that as well. Any suggestions? You definitely need to try hot yoga and see if you body likes it! I sometimes feel like its too hot for me, but there are classes that I have been to where the room is packed and just having the doors closes generates so much heat that everyone is drenched! You will love it, as it sounds like you are a fitness enthusiast just like me. I also am very hard on myself and do have bouts of anxiety as well.. I've just recently in the last 6 months tried acupuncture for this and it has been amazing the improvement I feel and see with my body.
These are great goals you have set and inspire me to keep mine in play!

  4. I enjoyed reading your post. I sounds like you have a great connection to fitness and your physical well-being. I think it is awesome that you are working actively working on the other areas and setting up plans to make those adjustments. I love where you talk about replacing social media with something that will connect you more spiritually. I think sometimes making those strides in our spiritual life can also help with our mental health as well. I also love your remedy for connecting with friends to get us out of our normal flow of busy daily life.

  5. Hi Tamara,
When reading your posts I really identified with you. I too am a stay at home mom (I have 6) and we have some similar ages in there. I also struggle with anxiety and being too hard on myself sometimes. It is hard not to with children in the house. I thought that your goals sounded great, and I actually might copy you with the facebook and pintrest in the evening. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Thanks for reading my post and it is nice to know that I am not alone. It is amazing how much time we really do have to work on our self if we cut out all the busy stuff that really does not benefit us. Sometimes I feel that facebook and pinterest make me feel bad. You see all the great stuff on pinterest and feel guilty that you are not better in crafting, house cleaning, parenting, fitness, and being a good wife. You see all the "brag" post on facebook about how great someones husband/boyfriend is, the new this or new that they got, or how amazing their kids are at this or that.
